Blog Challenge-Day 5

June 5—Short-term goals for this month and why those goals.

June Goals! Oh boy, here is where I get ambitious! I love lists and make them for everything.

1-Finish the office organization I’ve started-I would LOVE for this to be a super functional space again and not just a catch-all place. Particularly because I have lots of craft projects I want to do and since my former craft room is now a nursery….well, I need someplace to set up!

2-Work more on the Granny triangles for Ellie’s Birthday Bunting-must stay on top of this! Here is the plan (link!)

3-Plan Ellie’s 1st birthday party-I’ve thought of this quite a bit in general terms but really have to get to the nitty-gritty and plan a great 1st birthday for my girl!

4-Enjoy a family weekend mini-vaca getaway-we totally deserve this! Especially because it’s my hubby’s birthday this week, so our little getaway will be a birthday treat

5-Paint the patio set and other outdoor projects-been on the list a while and would LOVE to get this done before the birthday party

6-Finish a yarn UFO-because I didn’t last month, I’ll just carry this into my June goals

7-While doing all of the above….enjoy every moment with my baby girl! Because every day counts and it’s the little things that make me happy!

May Recap

How did I do with my May goals? Let’s see….

  • Read a book – something I have not indulged in regularly since becoming a busy Mommy: DONE! I LOVED Bloom! Really enjoyed some ‘me’ time reading too!
  • Enjoy my first Mother’s Day – a fun low-key day was enjoyed by all
  • Work on Ellie’s Birthday Bunting – still in progress, but looking very good!

  • Clean the office (aka junk room, at least these days) – a work in progress (sorry, no pics) but looking much better!
  • Finish a UFO – for all my non-yarnie friends…that would be an ‘UnFinished Object’ I have quite a few of these, and lord help me, I could do with less of them! FAIL….I didn’t not finish any projects, although I did make progress on one:

  • Paint the front door (finally) – total fail, but I do blame all the rain we’ve been getting
  • Contact landscapers for quotes on front yard redo – post-back surgery, I have decided we should hire this out instead of Terry taking on the brunt of it. We’ll see how the budget turns out….fingers crossed! FAIL…must do this!
  • Move obsolete baby gear to attic I believe we have sadly seen the last days for several things: swing, infant carrier/carseat, little bottles, breast pump, etc. IN PROGRESS: nothing has made its way to the attic yet, but I do have big plastic bins packed and ready!!

Not bad! June will be even busier as preparations for Ellie’s first birthday party really crank up, so stay tuned!

May Goals

OK, so were 11 days into May, but I have a serious laundry list of upcoming things to do this summer so I am posting my May to-do list (even though it’s late, forgive me).

  1. Read a book – something I have not indulged in regularly since becoming a busy Mommy!
  2. Enjoy my first Mother’s Day – yippee!
  3. Work on Ellie’s Birthday Bunting – don’t want to get behind on this
  4. Finish a UFO – for all my non-yarnie friends…that would be an ‘UnFinished Object’ I have quite a few of these, and lord help me, I could do with less of them!
  5. Clean the office (aka junk room, at least these days) – we’re planning a BIG re-org with new desks, etc. But in the meantime….being able to walk around would be an improvement
  6. Paint the front door (finally)
  7. Contact landscapers for quotes on front yard redo – post-back surgery, I have decided we should hire this out instead of Terry taking on the brunt of it. We’ll see how the budget turns out….fingers crossed!
  8. Move obsolete baby gear to attic – I believe we have sadly seen the last days for several things: swing, infant carrier/carseat, little bottles, breast pump, etc

I could go on, there is much more I want to do…..but we’ll see how things go 🙂

I’m Back! Happy 2010!!!

After a bit of a break, I’m back in action! Christmas turned out to be just as crazy as expected, but we had a lovely trip down south. How lovely you may ask? Let’s just say we left Boston on a 17 degree post-2009 blizzard morning and arrived in New Orleans to a 70 degree sunny day. AWESOME!!

We had loads of fun visiting everyone, especially:

A few friends from college (we did not all plan to wear purple, I swear!):

My homegirl, Amy. Before my entry into DH’s family, she was the only girl with a LOT of boys. This chica is one tough cookie!

And most importantly, my super cutie-patootie 4 year old nephew:

Without even consulting my December ‘goal’ list, which was basically a social calendar, I’m declaring it all a success!

Now I have some SUPER exciting new plans for 2010 that I can’t wait to share. But first…I have to brainstorm, list and organize it all! Yes, I’m a geek, don’t hate me for it! Stay tuned for the fun & have a happy and safe New Year!!!!!

December 2009 Goals

I can NOT believe it’s December. Seriously. Like, pick me up off the floor because where has this year gone?!?! There was so much I wanted to do and so much I actually did. I am planning even more for next year, but first I have to get through December. I’m changing things up a bit and I hope to update you on it all!

1-Finish our custom DIY cabinet for the kitchen – We started this over Thanksgiving but it’s going much slower than we hoped. That’s OK, we’ll get it done. I hope it comes out as good as I think it will!!

2-Christmas shop – obvious….got to do this!

3-PARTY!!!! Here is a few of our upcoming shin-digs:

  • Christmas dinner for the Friendship of Salem volunteers, Sunday Dec. 6
  • 2nd Anniversary, Tues, Dec. 15
  • Work Christmas party, Thursday Dec. 17
  • Work super awesome say-goodbye to one of our best ever technician’s who’s going to physician’s assistant school party, Friday Dec. 18
  • Belated Anniversary day out on the town, Saturday Dec. 19
  • Christmas trip home, Dec 22-28

Wow, that’s a lot of partying!!

4-Start new tradition with Mom- we’re making a Happy Birthday Jesus cake with my nephew for Christmas Day. She wants to do this every year.

5-Be merry! For me this is a month to enjoy, so a short list is right up my alley 😉

November Wrap-up

What was on this crazy list? Let’s have a look-see:

1-Bloggidy-blog makeover: Looks OK with the new header, but I would like to do more

2-DIY Blog party: LOVING IT!

3-Kitchen updates: I really need to install the knobs/pulls on our kitchen cabinets and seal the granite countertops. We have everything to do both, but haven’t. FAIL! We are working on things slowly, but these are still on the to-so list

4-Holiday crafting: I absolutely must get cracking on the gift list. These currently include:

  • crocheted pillow -FAIL!
  • pillow pal- FAIL!
  • kitcheny goodness for Sha-Recipe holiday swap partner- CHECK!
  • ornament(s) for my December 07 Nestie swap partner- purchased
  • Christmas stockings for the puppies- one down!

5-Weekly Weigh-Ins: Well….I tried. But, alas, our scale is psycho. Or, just doesn’t does work well because our floors aren’t perfectly flat so if you move it by an inch your weight will change by as much as 2lbs

6-Craft room bonanza: I have a plan. It is in the works. I did clean up somewhat but nothing blog-worthy yet.

7-Try a new recipe: DONE!

8-Spinning: In progress! I also have a new spindle on the way because the one I have is in a sad state, so hopefully things will pick up soon.

9-Plan winter ski trip: We have a plan but haven’t booked anything yet.

10-Puppy training: Mickey is now a PRO at sitting, but we are still having difficulty with ‘down’

So, I guess the bad news is that there is not a lot of ‘dones’ but the good news is that there are very few fails!!! We really just have a lot in progress, but that is going in the right direction!

November 2009 Goals

So, the goal list, yea. There are so many things that I want to put, that I’ve decided to make a “winter” list separately to put all the things that are kinda open ended. I need them on a list so I don’t forget them, but I really doubt I’ll get them done in November and just can’t set myself up for a post full of failures, so the winter list will be forecoming. With that in mind here is my November list:

1-Bloggidy-blog makeover: I hate themes, especially the bad and boring ones. I used to enjoy changing up my theme regularly on Blogger before my site got mega-bugged. The old Blogger site is now fixed, but I really like the features wordpress has so I want to stick with this one. So I subscribed and DH promises to show me how to do the CSS editing.

2-DIY Blog party: Kim has tricks up her sleeve. I’m game….could never pass up a dare, much less a double dog dare! That’s right Kim…I spy that new button on your site. Bring it on! See, it’s even making my “get ‘er down” list!

3-Kitchen updates: I really need to install the knobs/pulls on our kitchen cabinets and seal the granite countertops. We have everything to do both, but haven’t.

4-Holiday crafting: I absolutely must get cracking on the gift list. These currently include:

  • crocheted pillow
  • pillow pal
  • kitcheny goodness for Sha-Recipe holiday swap partner
  • ornament(s) for my December 07 Nestie swap partner
  • Christmas stockings for the puppies

5-Weekly Weigh-Ins: the vet fussed at me that our puppies are getting a bit soft. So, we’re back to weighing in and watching how many treats they get, etc.

6-Craft room bonanza: I have a plan. It’s a shaky, not totally thoughtout plan, but a plan. We’ll see how it all turns out. If it is blog-worthy, you will know and there will be pictures!

7-Try a new recipe: I’m totally taking care of this one tonight!

8-Spinning: I need to finish spinning up my current fiber because I have more on the way!

9-Plan winter ski trip: DH will DIE if we don’t go skiing this winter. I’ve never been skiing, I’m from Louisiana for goodness sake! I am brave though, and willing to give it a try.

10-Puppy training: we are taking a break before the intermediate obedience course because Mickey is a bit hard to train. We are just getting him to sit on command somewhat consistently. He tends to get excited and just bounce around a lot. We want to master the basics from the puppy course before we start the intermediate course (perhaps in Jan or Feb)

That’s the top 10, so I will stop there. I would put some good pro-active Christmas stuff on there, but let’s face it, that’s optimistic, so if I get that done before December, it will just be a bonus!
